Today we had to pedal 71 kilometers to Hostrup Strand. Yes, you heard it right. The beach! Although we were leaving the beach of the North Sea, we will now move to one of the many fjords in Denmark. By the way, Denmark has more than 7300 kilometers of beach and 1400 islands, so there is plenty for everyone!
However, we first had to depart from this delightful location in Husby, hosted by Ruth and Lars. We opted for “see you laters” instead of formal goodbyes. Following numerous hugs and the ringing of a bells by Lars, we commenced our journey westward, in the direction of Ulborg.

Today’s weather was a mixed bag: sunny, 19°C, with a northwest wind. Our drive northeast meant the wind was sometimes helpful, sometimes not. We did some essential shopping at Super Brugsen in Vinderup before heading 15km to the shelter. Even with a reservation, you never quite know what to expect!
But when we got there, nobody was around to claim the spot. After a quick look, the site seemed fine. A shelter, a fireplace, a bench, a pretty clean toilet, and grass for our tent.

The sole drawback was that upon our arrival, the wind was quite strong in this particular location, causing us to question whether we would be able to spend the night there.

Biking further to a camp or another shelter wasn’t really an option since we were both tired and hungry.
Since I saw the wind would die down in the evening, we decided to fill our protesting bellies first.

The wind was calming down, so we proceeded to set up the tent.

I still have some time to write my daily report and do some reading.
