Day 28 Jump!

Today’s the day.  “And for what?” you might ask gentle reader.

For what indeed.

If you followed our prep journey, you might’ve read that we tried to meticulously plan every step of our road trip, even camping and cooking. We’d planned a full test of biking with all our gear, camping, and making food, but the harsh May weather kept us from doing it. Okay, some called us sissies, but it’s always smart to pick your battles.

So the only thing left for us was to jump at the time when everything falls into place (a bit of good weather, a nice camping spot and sufficiently tired to sleep through all the birds and animals that stay up late at midsommar.

We know how to cook and set up the tent, so we just need to combine everything 😁.

But first things first. We packed and had a light breakfast. Then we had to say goodbye to our wonderful hosts Hanne and Allan, who took great care of us. And apparently they’re also big fans of this blog ❤️ so thanks again Hanne and Allen.

They even came early to wave goodbye!

Today we need to bike west in the direction of the North Sea coast of Denmark. We go along the “Skaeve Bane” as we liked this bike path so much.

The first 30 kilometers after Grindsted were a breeze, but then, to my surprise, we hit a ton of gravel.

A quick stop at Super Brugsen in Nørre Nebel for drinks and dinner, then off to the campsite!

The location used to be a shooting range, but now you can camp here. There’s drinkable water, a toilet, and wooden tables, so it’s pretty luxurious for a first real camping trip.

First, we gotta set up our tent. After a little trial and error, we finally got it pitched with enough room for our stuff.

Once the basic structure was up, Leen handles the inside decorating.

I went to make dinner. We had pølsemix with stewed mini carrots and cherry tomatoes 🍅. Pølsemix is a mix of potatoes in small cubes, onion, and sliced hot dogs.

After that, we got a nice cake from a bakery in Nørre Nebel with fresh coffee.

After coffee, I started writing my daily report at one of the tables outside, but when the sun went behind the trees, the temperature started dropping quickly.

I kept writing in the tent, until it was time to crash.

So good night and see you tomorrow.
