As a Belgian, it is always important to talk about the weather. Many silences in conversations can be bridged by starting with, “Luckily, we didn’t have rain today, eh?”
Does this mean that this daily report will feel a bit like a bridge in our conversation? Maybe, but that’s up to the gentle reader to decide.
The start of it in a nutshell: breakfast, packing, and waving goodbye to the host, Julian, and his lovely daughter.

Our route mainly followed the dikes along the Wezer, and with the wind at our backs, we progressed very well.
The most thrilling part of the route was passing through Bremerhaven, a big city with an equally big harbor. It’s huge! It took us almost an hour and a half to go from beginning to end. We hoped to come across a nice fish and chips restaurant or something equivalent, but we were not so lucky this time. So we ate our plan B (the sandwiches we had already made in the morning) for lunch, in the sun, on a bench on a dike. How lovely can life be?

The journey continues, and at the end, we need to go shopping again since it’s the weekend and many shops will be closed tomorrow.
For dinner, Leen selected a delicious Edeka Bio Vegetale Pizza 🍕 (that tasted very much like the one from Dr. Oetker).
Further along the way, we stumbled upon a high-tech fruit-and-co vending machine. Leen went for the fresh strawberries 🍓. Somehow, strawberries replaced chips in the evening. Will there be a noticeable effect at the end of our journey?
Our stay was again at a farm, but more Airbnb style with a lot of shared accommodation, where we also met other German bikepackers and shared stories and experiences.
Komoot was so kind as to give us a nice overview of the journey so that you also get a visual idea of our route.
And yes, to conclude, the weather was ideal for biking today.
