Day 7 and 8 Take it easy

Like we said in our last post, we really chilled out in Bakkeveen these past two days.

Bakkeveen is a very small community in Fryslan. It is tucked away in a wooded area with heathlands and sandy stretches, right on the border with Groningen and Drenthe.

We were lucky that the village actually had its local festival just this past weekend, so we could enjoy the music right into our beds.

We were so tired that we slept right though it

So what to do on resting days? A bit of shopping for food, cooking the food, eating the food and maybe even a short walk, to digest the food, through the sandy dunes (remains from a Nordic gletsjer that was here a long time ago).

We also spent a lot of time planning the next few days of our trip. It’s always a bit of a puzzle to match travel distance with possible places to stay. But we are getting there.

Doing planning on a phone and a tablet and two cups of coffee is not always easy, and yes we are luxe beasts

Tomorrow’s weather forecast is code yellow for the whole of the Netherlands, so hopefully we’ll bike in between the showers.
