Three days of resting and planning? Well, yes, I guess 😁. It allowed Leen to sleep in for a long time, and this helped with the recovery of her sore knee.
Day 69’s trip was allready set. We’ve got our stay reserved in Uddebo a while ago. It’s a 75 km drive, but we’re confident it’ll be doable, as it mostly follows the beautiful Ätradals-leden path. A good portion of this route even traces the same former railway we enjoyed on day 65. With only 200 climbing meters, it should be feasible.
However, for our planning for the days after Uddebo, we encountered some difficulties. Locating suitable accommodation during our journey proved to be quite challenging. The limited options we discovered were frequently already reserved, had questionable reputations, or did not include bed linens and towels, especially considering the prices being requested.

We chose not to go camping in the coming period, as the weather in Sweden is rather unpredictable at the moment.
So we hit this wall with our planning and had to completely restart. And as the saying goes, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” We are not insane, yet.
So we went for a different route, going through places that had more options for sleeping, camping, or eating.

We’re taking the scenic route along the coast, sticking to the Swedish biking paths to steer clear of those busy main roads!
This approach worked out great. Planning went smooth again. It will take us an extra day, but we’d bike part of the way along the beautiful west coast, which makes up a bit for our very first plan of biking along the east coast.
Åsarp isn’t a huge tourist destination. It has a cool artificial lake nearby the village center, dug in the sixties for swimming. But we did not take part in all the fun there as we were not in a swimming mood when we passed by.

On day 68, we had regained sufficient energy (now I sound overly dramatic) to do a short walk in the neighborhood. The landscapes are very beautiful here and very different from what we had already encountered in the past in Sweden.

I even got some time to make a little drawing or two, a bit different from my other work, but hey, do you remember that quote from the beginning of this piece?
So tomorrow we will be biking again. Our scheme is a bit challenging, but we’ll see how it goes. In Tyringe when we stay with Eleanor and Ingemar, we will decide how to proceed.
