Day 10 More rain to come?

The forecast says it’s gonna rain for the next 4 days.

Anyhow,  before we can even start such a day I need to get everyone out of bed,

Leen always needs a bit more time to get out of bed

followed by a good breakfast.

Breakfast at Bourtange

Rikie always makes sure to include all the details for a good, healthy breakfast. It has everything we need to start the day off right.

We always like to take a goodbye picture from the place we stayed. This time we were photobombed by 78 year old Hendrik-Jan on a small bicycle.

He actually came to give us some directions on the best way to start our journey.

This is gonna happen again today. Not the photobomb, but a nice guy along the road who inquired about our travels and who suggested to travel via Papenburg.

So we changed our tour to go to Papenburg, and we gotta admit it was worth it.

For lunch we went for a bakery that sells sandwiches, coffee and pie. Can’t argue with such a proposition.

Then we got the first of three rain showers that afternoon. Luckily, all three stopped after a reasonable amount of time.

And yes, we take shelter if possible.

The remainder of the tour is fairly straightforward as sun and wind take over from each other.

We got to our VOF spot at 5, and Johann was there to greet us. After a tour and a quick shower, we were ready for the huge supper he made for us.

Johann and Fenny, his wife, are both bikers, so you can imagine they had a lot to talk about. He even invited us for a drink in his salon after dinner, where the stories and the beer kept flowing. Although Johann understands a bit of Dutch (his wife comes from Groningen), we tried to speak our best school German. With varying degrees of success.

The beer was alcohol free. Fenny is not cut out of the photo,  she was at a concert of Linkin Park at that time.

We went to our bedroom at 9:30 and were fast asleep shortly after!
