So, as you probably noticed, the day’s story always kicks off with breakfast. Anouk and Tom, our hosts, hooked us up with a table loaded with bread, juice, cheese, and all sorts of spreads. Seriously, too much to pick from! But what really mattered here was the cozy time we spent together. And after tons of hugs, we hit the road at 9:15 AM for an 80 km drive in the sunshine.

Our route along the meandering Vecht offered so many picturesque sights! A nice way to start the day.

One funny thing we had to do was to power our own ferry. Pictures speak louder than words here.
Next, we visited my internet friend, David Van Der Kooij, who’s also a graphic artist. We met through the same online drawing course taught by Swedish graphic artist Mattias Adolfsson.
What a welcome we got here! David bought us some sourdough pastries and even made a fusion artwork with a robotic version of Bålar and Målin. So nice to meet each other in real life! We had a lot to talk about, so time was too short.

Our next destination is Amsterdam. We just wanted a quick taste of this huge city, but it turns out you can totally do it by bike. So we picked two famous spots: Anne Frank’s house and The Dam. The first was packed with tourists trying to snap a pic of an otherwise pretty normal-looking house (but what a heartbreaking history it hides), and the second was practically overflowing with tourists from everywhere. Not many Dutch folks at those places, huh?

After that experience (totally out of Leen’s comfort zone, but thanks for doing it), we still had to bike about 40 km to Almere. It was tough. Being on a bike for 4 days in a row is starting to weigh on our bodies.
Arrived at VOF and received such a warm welcome, complete with a delicious meal of asparagus soup and a tasty quinoa and chicken dish! After sharing stories, it’s time for bed.
